  • Record/Vinyl + Digital Album

Fantastic sounding analogue version of Earthrise with custom edits unique to this format.
A batch of LPs have reversed labels due to an error in the manufacturing process. I'll check before dispatch and let you know if you have one of these rarities. The album would then be played the side labled "Part two" 1st to get the correct sequence, launching first and returning last! :-)

about

Earthrise celebrates the voyage of Apollo 8. The first ship and crew to go into deep space and arrive at the Moon. After the initial frantic introduction as the Command Module hurtles towards the Moon,a slow 6/8 groove depicts the floating motion as the ship orbits. On Christmas Eve 1968, Commander Frank Borman, Bill Anders and Jim Lovell are the first humans to visit another world in space. The famous, iconic "Earthrise" photo was taken on this mission. Seeing the Earth as the living "Blue Marble" in the vastness of deep space as it rose over the surface of the Moon was and is a momentous and emotional image. Arguably the most important photograph from the 20th century.Musically listen out for the theme and amazing guitar solo by Mike Walker , followed by solos from Neil Yates on trumpet and Matthew Johns playing Rhodes piano via the Korg SV!. Some conversational Jaco'esque fretless bass by me on this track too. Noelle Rollings doubling of the guitar theme echos the operatic vocals in Alexander Courage's theme for the original Star Trek TV series from 1966
